Medication Use Evaluation
Medication use evaluation is a service created to to support doctors, where a specially qualified pharmacist evaluates a patient's medicine use as a whole. A doctor who is in charge of a patient's medical care and who can make changes in medication, will be given a written suggestion based on the evaluation.
The medication use evaluation offers assessment on, for example, if the dose and medication times are correct, if other, overlapping medication is used, if short-term medication has been used longer, if medication that has interactions with other medication is used or if medication is not suitable for elderly people. Also, medication loads, and other adverse effects are assessed based on symptoms the patient has had. The evaluation is based on a patient interview, medication records, laboratory results and medical records.
Medication use evaluation aims for safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medicines.
When prescribed medicine is bought, the pharmacy personnel always compare the medicine bought at Rotuaarin Apteekki with previously bought prescription medication. We confirm that the new medicine can be used together with previously bought prescription medication. We also use a "medication for elderly patients" database, which gives warnings for most common problems elderly people experience with their medications. This check increases medication safety.
Automated Dose Delivery
We deliver customer's regularly used medication for 2-week use, with medicines divided into portion bags. This service improves patient safety as medication interaction check done with it can prevent serious adverse effects from occurring. This is a paid service.
